15 Stages of Eating Beef Pepper Rice at Pepper Lunch

6:55 PM

I was at Greenbelt 5 at 10:30AM for my OB appointment. After a short chitchat, it was over. I went downstairs to the pharmacy to buy my medicine and roamed around Greenbelt 3 and planned to go home. I later found out from Jeff that the shuttles going back to BF Homes start at 3PM. So we decided that Jimmy, our driver, will take me home instead. I felt hungry so it's a good reason to spend some money and eat. I remembered that one of my favorites, Pepper Lunch, is in the area. I walked back to Greenbelt 5.

While sitting inside Pepper Lunch, I watched people eat their orders. I know it's bad to stare, but it was entertaining to watch them. So I watched and realized that almost everyone has the same pattern of eating their beef pepper rice. Or whatever they ordered.

1. Standing. Check if there's a line. If there is, line up. If none, go to the cashier and order.

2. Ordering. Order beef pepper rice. Think about upsizing to Junior. You upsize and add P45.

3. Waiting. Wait on your table. Try not to watch people from other tables. Staring is bad.

4. Serving. Your order will be served in a few minutes. You will realize that the beef strips are still very few even if you've upgraded. You will ask yourself, 'Where did my P45 go?'

5. Mixing. Mix the rice and beef together immediately. Put your sauces. You have two options -- honey or soy garlic, or both. You will wonder where the beef strips are. Did the rice eat them? You take out the paper lining. Or you don't.

6. Eating. Scoop your first spoonful of rice, beef, and corn. Eat.

7. Blowing. Even if they say blowing some air on your food is the wrong way to lessen the heat, blow. That's the fastest way to cool your food.

8. Crying. The overeager you will put that spoonful of glorious beef pepper rice inside your mouth, only to realize that it is still very hot. Wipe your tears. Don't worry. It really happens.

9. Burning. As if you never learned from the previous crying due to the very hot food you just put in your mouth. You do it again. If you are not paying much attention, you might touch the hot plate. You cry some more.

10. More stirring. This would help your food to cool.

11. Saving. Since you are so convinced that there are very few beef strips in your food, you will try not to eat them in one go. You will eat rice with just the corn and not the beef.

12. Noticing. After you eat half of your rice, you will notice that the beef strips are coming out of nowhere. You will start thinking if upgrading was a good idea.

13. Realizing. After more spoonfuls of rice, you realize that there are indeed a lot of beef strips left on your iron plate. And then you see the thick layer of oil lying at the bottom of your plate. You stop eating.

14. Giving. If you are generous enough, you will give your leftover beef strips to your boyfriend or your husband which he would gladly accept.

15. Leaving. And going back after a few days. Or weeks.

Do you also do this? Or is it just me? ;)
