On Pregnancy and Fatherhood

"Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them." (Col 3:19, NIV)

This passage has never been so crucial than during my wife's pregnancy. I am not perfect, and there would be times that I need to remind myself of this passage. To be honest, the pregnancy wasn't easy for me, and especially for her, but in the end, we both know it would be soooo worth it.

Thirty-two (32) weeks and counting. Around 6-8 weeks to go. Time does fly, but now Taglet's birthday seem so far away. Of course we're both excited, and I'm pretty sure, both afraid as well. Afraid that we'll screw up one way or another, or afraid that we're not actually "ready" by today's standards. Yet I know Joy and I will always have each other, together with God, in this journey of parenthood.

Isaac Joseph, we are not perfect parents. We don't promise to be, but what we promise is that we'll do our very best to bring you up in this world. We promise to always look after your welfare, even if sometimes it's gonna be hard for you to understand. We promise to be a strong, happy family, in spite of our occasional misunderstandings and miscommunication.

We've waited for you for almost 2 years. We know you'll sometimes think that we're just being mean, but rest assured it's because we're only after your welfare. You are one of God's greatest gifts to us (the others are following soon hehehe) and we will never, ever hate you. We will always love you, and we will always love each other. We can't wait for you to come out, pero wag muna, masyado pang maaga hehehe.

We love you Taglet aka Isaac Joseph aka Zach! Thank you for coming into our lives, and thank you Lord Jesus for giving him to us.

I forced Jeff to write something about what he feels about this whole pregnancy experience. And he obliged. Haha!
